Who said Polo is the "Sport of Kings?" With a little help from technology, even those without equestrian skills can enjoy a good match! Welcome to the 21st century version of the game, Segway Polo.
On Friday April 30, EO Boston is having an all out chapter competition - forum against forum! Armed with polo mallets and helmets, EO Boston members will take center stage, riding 24+ Segways on 2 large soccer fields.
Segway Polo is a whole new experience - the rules are similar to that of its elder relative, but instead of mounting a polo pony, you will gliding effortlessly across the field on a two-wheeled, self balancing phenomenon - the Segway PT. With just a brief training session, you and your teamates will be zipping your way to glory. The competition will be fierce, so get ready for an all-out, EO once in a lifetime tournament to determine who wins the title -- Segway Polo Champion!
Fore Kicks is an indoor/outdoor facility. We are planning to be inside, unless its an amazingly glorious day, in which case we may be outside. Dress - casual, loose clothing, no open shoes or sandals, no heels for women. Helmets will be provided, but you can bring pads - elbow, wrist, knee etc..if you would like.
A few details:
1. You will need to pick a team Captain and a team name asap. We will be making t-shirts and would like to have your team name on it. Please email to Caryn by April 2nd - csaitz@yahoo.com.
2. 5 people play on the field at a time, and you can rotate fresh players in. Each game is 43 minutes long and all forum members will have the opportunity to play.
3. This will be a bracketed tournament, you may play several games during the day to become the Champion.
4. A light breakfast and full lunch will be served.
5. Please review the rules prior to the event.There are 2 versions - long and short.
